Climate Change Adaptation

In all projects, COCD considers the economic and social effects of climate change in local communities; and integrates awareness-raising of these effects into all relevant training including training sessions with families, teachers, and Commune Councils. Our initiatives place education and community-led decision-making at the forefront, allowing for communities to prepare for the outcomes of a changing environment, while also ensuring the long-term success and sustainability of programs, even after their completion.

All COCD projects are implemented in ways that are climate-sensitive. Not only does COCD organize research and support alternative income sources for families, but we also work with the private sector to increase cooperation and develop new strategies to reduce the overall impact of climate change. This provides better opportunities for individuals and prevents overreliance on increasingly vulnerable areas, such as traditional income sources in agriculture.
