History
2007
COCD was established by a group of Cambodian development professionals with expertise in rural development and child rights promotion with a number of years of common experience working together.
2008
COCD was officially registered with the Cambodia Ministry of Interior, with technical support from terre des hommes Germany. COCD ran their first successful pilot program in Veal Veng district, Pursat Province, Cambodia.
2009
Operations were expanded to Phnom Krvanh district in Pursat. This office has since been closed; however, programs continue in this district. COCD also continued to be very active in Kampot Province and has programs in Kandal Province too, concentrating on WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) programs.
2012
COCD was recognized and certified by the Cambodian government as a Child Safe Organization (CSO) due to their strong child protection policy and extensive knowledge of child rights.
2015
COCD partnered with Holt International USA and Caritas/Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD) to implement a new program focused on family strengthening and economic improvement in target areas.
2019
COCD introduced social enterprise activities to their economic empowerment program to support families run a cattle farming business and generate an income.
2020
COCD worked with existing donors to provide emergency aid to support families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and flooding across Pursat Province.
2021
COCD partnered with WaterAid Cambodia and expanded its program to Kandal and Kampong Speu Province.
2022
COCD partnered with Church World Services (CWS) and expanded the program to Battambang Province.
2023
COCD partnered with International Needs Australia (INA) and expanded the program in Veal Veng of Pursat province.
