Volunteering at COCD for six weeks has been one of my life’s greatest experiences so far. COCD is a fantastic and driven NGO who genuinely care about the community and improving the everyday lives of local people. A highlight of my time here was our rural field trip to gather data from Kampot Province where we interacted with the schools and communities. Our key focuses were to improve the situation of violence against children, improve access to clean water, encourage WASH practices, and ameliorate the general quality of life for local families. Among these target areas of COCD I have worked on various tasks including, creating surveys, drafting reports, analysing data, conducting interviews, writing proposals for funding and more. I feel my contribution to the organisation has been worthwhile and I have enjoyed working with such a wonderful and supportive team. Not only have I gained information about the important work COCD does but I have also learnt so much about Cambodia and Khmer culture. All in all, I believe it has been a valuable, eye-opening, and life-enriching opportunity which I encourage anyone who is interested to embark on a similar experience!
